The film etched the beautiful and touching relationship between a father and his daughter. Sharmila aunty was the goddess of innocence, grace and class in every frame and again for me, an inspiration of a glamourous diva and power-packed performer. She has inspired me and my career. Apart from Mausam, two of my other favourites films featuring her are Satyajit Ray's Apur Sansar where she made her debut in cinema and Devi.
Arth: Mahesh Bhatt's film had two of my favourite actresses — Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil. Their souls could be literally seen through their eyes in each close-up. Arth is an ode to relationships. The performances of Shabanaji, as the timid housewife completely in love with her husband (Kulbhushan Kharbhanda), who later grows from strength to strength and later rejects him when he comes back to her and Smitaji as the neurotic passionate actress were unforgettable. I would love to do a film like Arth.
Bobby: It's a classic teenage love story between two teenagers of different classes. Bobby's (Dimple Kapadia) character is very much like me — emotional, spunky, passionate, honest and true to her love Rishi (Kapoor) uncle. His character is so innocent and naïve and yet when it comes to love he's so strong. I loved his performance in the film.
Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge: Adi's (Chopra) film, for me, is the ultimate on romance — I have watched the film more than 50 times and can watch it yet again. It featured the tender romance between two of my favourite stars — Shah Rukh and Kajol as Raj and Simran still linger in our mind and hearts. It's a story that inspired the nation to just believe in the passion and purity of love. It's a lesson in love well-told. An unforgettable experience of what true love is about.
