Is Kareena playing Jessica Lall?
12 Apr 2009 | 130 views | Trupti

Model Jessica Lall was gunned down at a New Delhi restaurant in April 1999.

The movie will focus on two female characters - Jessica and her sister Sabrina, who fought for justice.

"I have finished the script recently. The story of the movie is inspired by a headline in a major newspaper," says Gupta, adding, "It's won't be on the lines of a documentary. It will be a commercial feature film."

About the Jessica Lall case

Jessica Lall was shot dead at Tamarind Court Café in south Delhi on April 29, 1999. The incident occurred after she reportedly refused to serve liquor to Manu Sharma, the son of politician, Vinod Sharma. The acquittal of the accused led to widespread public outcry for a re-trial of the case. Following this, the prosecution appealed and the Delhi HC conducted proceedings on a fast track court over 25 days. The lower court judgment was found faulty, and Manu Sharma was found guilty of having murdered Jessica. He was sentenced to life in Dec 2006.
