Karan Johar’s untitled film on terrorism, directed by Rensil D’Silva, will be finally shot in the city it has been set, New York (NY). Though the producer and director are dreading the practical problems that await them in NY, they are taking the plunge.

Earlier, the entire film was shot in Philadelphia for practical reasons such as security for the stars and crowd management. But now for the final schedule, the director is adamant that the film has to be shot in the real NY.

Working round-the-clock to edit the footage he has shot so far before leaving for the US, Rensil confirms the news and elaborates, “For the final schedule we had to have NY. So far we have shot the film in Philadelphia and managed quite well as the topography of the two cities is very similar. It’s like the difference between Mumbai and Pune.

But now I need to give the narration a geographical identity. I need to get touristic places like the Empire State building on camera. I know shooting in NY isn’t easy. But it can’t be helped.”

The toughest part of the schedule will be security for the main stars, Kareena and Saif. Shooting dramatic scenes with them on the roads of Philadelphia was not that difficult, but in NY, the fan following for Bollywood stars is far bigger.

Also there is the problem of eager fans clicking the stars on their phone and emailing the pictures to websites. Since Karan and Rensil feel giving away the film’s look would amount to giving away the plot, every precaution would be taken to create a tighter-than-usual security cordon around the stars.

Adding to the woes is the fact that the film is in sync sound. “Shooting sync sound in NY will be really tough because the roads are much narrower and more crowded than in Philadelphia,” informed Rensil.
